Gather, little children, as I a tell a tale.
For a heartfelt warning may serve you well.
There is an evil spirit who wanders through town
And it preys on children whom it likes to drown.
Be careful not to wander through the streets at night.
Lest the fate of Mary become your plight.
She failed to mind her parents; she never listened well.
Now her mournful ghost in the lake does dwell.
Always say your prayers and keep the doors shut tight.
Or another needless victim you may become tonight.
